GOFFS, CA -- Historian Dennis Casebier has received a nearly $500,000 grant from the California Cultural and Historic Endowment to construct a Mojave Desert Archives Research Library on the grounds of the 75-acre Goffs Cultural Center.

The library will be built in the image of the Goffs Railway Depot, which stood near the site from 1902 to 1956. It will house more than 6,000 volumes of published works, 700 oral histories and other material pertaining to the eastern Mojave Desert.
